A River Runs Through It

Fea_Feb13The Miami River flows across the southwest quarter of Bates County.  It empties into the Marais des Cygnes River in Lone Oak township.  The river was named for the Miami Indians who used to come across from Kansas in dry weather to hunt and camped on the banks of this stream.  This postcard is from 1910.
